Intel considers selling cybersecurity business, says FT

New York - Intel microprocessor manufacturer is considering the sale of its cyber security business, the paper Financial Times.

According to the newspaper, Intel has talked to financial advisors on options for the Intel Security unit, formerly known as McAfee and purchased by the company for 7.7 billion dollars in 2011.

An Intel spokesman could not be reached immediately for comment.

The company said in April it planned to cut up to 12,000 jobs worldwide strategy to focus its business on the production of chips for data processing centers and Internet-connected devices.
