São Paulo - California surpassed France and became the 6th largest economy in the world.
According to the latest figures released by the Economic Analysis Office of the United States, the state's GDP reached US $ 2.46 trillion in 2015 while the size of the economy of France is estimated at US $ 2.422 trillion.
Early last year, California had already surpassed Brazil, with which it was compared on a map which equals the US states of GDP with countries based on 2013 data.
The second state with the highest GDP is Texas, comparable to the Australian economy, and the third is New York, about the size of Spain (even with the 2013 data).
What made a difference since been growth. California had the second highest rate in the country in 2015 (5.7%), only behind Oregon, which recorded 5.9%.
Meanwhile, France grew only 1.1% in 2015 and Brazil had a deep recession in 2014 after spending stalled.
Remember that there are 39.1 million Californians and 66.4 million French, then the account per capita ends up being much higher in the US state.
world economies coming out in front are, in order, the United States, China, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. These are the numbers in nominal terms; in parity purchasing power, China already leads.
