Dow Jones and Nasdaq show fall after weak US data

The US stock exchanges were operating lower on Tuesday, after weak results from Pfizer and weak data from the US economy desapontarem investors.

At 11:28 (GMT), the Dow Jones operated with a loss of 0.44 percent at 18,323 points while the S & P 500 was down 0.59 percent at 2,158 points. The technology index Nasdaq lost 0.68 percent to 5,148 points.

Pfizer, which is part of Dow Jones, reported revenues and earnings below analysts' estimates, but maintained its previous forecast for the year, leading to a decline in shares of nearly 3 percent.

Data showed that consumer spending in the US rose more than expected in June as households bought a range of goods and services.

However, the core PCE price index, the preferred measure of inflation the Federal Reserve, the US central bank, rose 1.6 percent in the 12 months through June, running below the target of 2 percent of the US central bank.

Shares of Ford and General Motors assembly plants also fell about 4 percent after reporting a drop in deliveries to the US market in July.
