Applications for unemployment benefits in the US fell to the lowest level in two months to the surprise of analysts, according to Labor Department data released on Thursday.
In adjusted for seasonal variations, the ministry recorded 252,000 applications for unemployment insurance in the week completed on September 17, or 8,000 less than in the previous week.
Analysts provided, in turn, an increase of 2,000.
